The Roles feature is being retired
Last updated: June 16, 2026
We're removing the Roles feature from Kertos. This article explains what's changing, what happens to your existing Roles, and what to use instead.
What's changing
June 27th: new Role creation is turned off. Your existing Roles stay visible.
August 15th: the Roles surface is removed.
Nothing disappears today, and we won't remove your data before you've had a chance to move anything you want to keep.
Why
The "Roles" label sits right next to your access settings (the Basic and Admin permission groups), and that overlap regularly causes confusion about what the feature is actually for. Rather than keep two things that look like access control but aren't, we're consolidating into the permission groups and system-level assignments that already do the job.
What to use instead
To manage who can access Kertos: use permission groups (Basic/Admin) in Users → Access level.
To track who has access to a specific system: use that system's user section (Inventory → Systems → Click on system → scroll to Users) and add users that have access to that system.

To note a person's job title or responsibility: use positions (Users → Positions) or departments.
What happens to my existing Roles
Your current Roles remain readable until August 15th. That gives you time to move anything you want to keep before the feature is removed.
